FEI Election
Welcome to the official website of Henk Rottinghuis.
Henk Rottinghuis ran for President at the 2010 FEI General Assembly, in Chinese Taipei, from the 1-6 November.
During his campaign he received many high-profile endorsements for his candidacy for FEI President, among them the Crown Prince of the Netherlands, the Prince of Orange. His campaign drew widespread praise and has had a positive and long-lasting effect on the sport.
Today, Henk holds several senior management positions in leading multi-national businesses, while remaining a keen equestrian enthusiast.
Following his FEI Presidential election campaign Henk issued the following statement:
“Firstly, I would like to thank all of my team and supporters involved in my campaign. While I was always the ranked-outsider for the role of President, I was pleased that we put together an innovative agenda with the views of the National Federations and its constituents at its core.
“While the outcome of my campaign was not quite the result I was looking for, I remain proud that I demonstrated to the world’s equestrian community that our sport needs to be enjoyed by many more, should be inclusive for all, and remain relevant in a modern world in which the balance of power is shifting to new continents.
“I am honoured to have been requested to stand for Presidency of the FEI by my Federation. The support of David O’Connor, an outstanding sportsman and President of the world’s largest Federation as well as that of most riders, convinced me to put my candidacy before the General Assembly. It was a great experience and I remain passionate for the sport I have been involved with at various levels over the last 30 years.
“Thank you all once again for your support and I would like to wish HRH Princess Haya the best of luck in her new term.â€

Henk Rottinghuis delivers speech in Chinese Taipei for FEI Presidential Elections 2010
As you know, due to your efforts over the last 10 years we have seen our sport grow strongly with four times as many events as a decade ago andmore countries participating in equestriansport and indeed winning medals, than ever before. Steps for modernization were made, many initiatives taken, among others byHer Royal Highness Princess Haya. A credit to everyone who contributed. It shows we have a rough diamond in our hands.
However, we suffer from growing pains, developing nations feel excluded and even larger nations feel unable to speak up for fear of some subsequent act, and established Federations feel their needs are not understood or met by the levels of service they receive from the FEI, a view reflected by top-athletes, organizers and other groups who need to work alongside the FEI. The organization is perceived as divided by the outside world. Despite repeated promises, there is no new Board structure in which everyone finds himself well represented.
Rottinghuis announces O’Connor and Hodson as his FEI Vice Presidential Candidates
Henk Rottinghuis, Presidential candidate for the Fédération Equestre Internationale, the international governing body of equestrian sport, today announced that he would be joined in the Presidency by two of the most respected names in equestrian sport.
